Once your business is up and running, it’s normal to want to say YES to everything.


Wait, hold up…I’ve learned that you need to take a breather every now and then and really know your WHY. What is the specific end result you want and how will this opportunity benefit your goals and life? Sometimes when we break it down, it becomes clear what does and does not matter – which leads to better decision making!

I used to be a “say yes to everything and figure it out later” person. What happened was I became so immersed in random responsibilities that I forgot about my big picture goal. I moved further and further away. It’s like FOMO – fear of missing out. You can’t let that eat away at you. You have to be confident in your end goal and the path you are taking to get there. If you can find the willpower to let go of an opportunity that doesn’t help with your end goal, I promise something else will come by that does.

So next time you get an opportunity – close your eyes and think:

  1. Why does this appeal to me?
  2. What positive effect will this have on my business?
  3. Will this move me a step closer to my big picture goal?
  4. If not, is there a way I can rework this opportunity so it DOES fit with my big picture goal?
  5. What will I need to sacrifice in order to take this on?
  6. If I pass, who can I refer in my place?

Remember, stop and take a breather!
